Our latest class 3d assignment is a lego animation....of course being the numb nut that I am I have deleted my original lego objects so started another one. Very quickly knocked up but it works.

Did some mucking around yesterday in lightwave, this will hopefully (once tweaked) be what the gunfire from my dreadnought model's assault cannon will look like once animated.

I finished building my new pc, this computer is dedicated to work....so no games to be installed on this.
Attached is the first render off the new system, a pure jerk off to see what it can do.

1.4million poly's, Backdrop radiosity with 10x AA......4 Minutes. Not ground breaking but a hell of alot faster than my old system.

I did a couple of renders for a friend of mine so I thought I would throw a few up here.
Both are still WIP the dreadnought more so than the predator.

With how long I have been dabbling with this thing I am surprised that I still enjoy the little time I spend on it, the thought had crossed my mind to maybe attempt a forge world venerable dreadnought.... I really love the dark angels with plasma cannon.... maybe when I can afford one, would need to do it justice after all.

Crap character

Ok so we had to make this character in class, I changed mine slightly. Have not really had much of a chance to really get stuck into lightwave as of late because we have alot of work to do in flash. The good news is we have to build another robot albeit a simple one, so should have that up in a few days I hope.

Rhino modeling 98%

The base Rhino shell is about 98% finished as far as modeling goes, I have a few details left to model and than she is done. Im still considering the full list of add-ons that I would like to make for this model....

As to when this thing will be textured...who knows, I want to do it justice and I dont think my current skill level is up to the standard I would like to apply. So we shall see....

Was watching a tutorial today off the newtek forums on compositing, thought I would try and throw the dreadie into a car park :)

twenty minutes worth of fiddling later and this is what I got.....

Ok so it needs alot of work, and I ran into some things I need to test and find work arounds but hey im happy with it as a test lol

on the modeling side of things Ive started on the power fist arm, not really happy with the actual fist so Ive left that as is for the moment and Im now working on the elbow and the inner arm hydrolics.

Well class has finished for this year and my load at work has increased dramatically, but Ive started back on my dreadnought and with the few hours I can add here and there Im hoping to get the modeling finished by christmas.

Green areas are just parts that I have not assigned a surface to yet, this is because I have decided to redo my naming scheme to better accommodate the number of parts.

Well recent events at home have been a pain in the arse, the upside to this is ill have alot more time to play with lightwave....maybe....

The service station is not finished, it is still using mostly textures assigned in modeler.....will probably stay that way though due to lack of time.

Ive been pretty busy as of late and haven't really got around to posting here, I'm still working on my dreadnought but at a very slow pace.
Currently working on a project for school, this time its a bowling alley, I chose to do mine in the vain of the Flintstones....this wasn't a great idea because it was a pain, but oh well.

Adding two pictures of my dreadnought so far, holidays are coming and I might get some more done on him during the break.

Current WIP: Dreadnought

So I have a couple of weeks off from my course and having wasted most of my time off with games and sleeping in, this week I thought I should actually do some thing with whats left of my free time....
So after a little searching I decided to model a dreadnought from the warhammer universe.
The first picture is of my original attempt, it was started with almost no reference and wacked plans. The other picture is my second and current attempt, I have gathered a decent amount of reference and spent alot more time aligning my plans, as such it will have alot more detail when it is eventually finished....

Lots of small free plugins for many different versions of lightwave, the downside is the website is not
in english so all instructions are jibberish, the upside is there are alot of pictures to illustrate what each plugin does.

Lego project

This is for a school project, we need to make a lego version of a scene from a movie of our choice. I was not 100% sure on what scene I wanted to do so I started working on resources that I would probably need anyway. All pieces are scaled properly and fit together like real lego.
